Former civil rights activist Roland Jahn and photographer Andreas Rost both played a role in the resistance and fall of the Berlin Wall. Thirty years later, they recall some of the crucial moments from a period in recent German history that was characterized by both unity and division.

As the 30th anniversary of the fall of Berlin Wall approaches, this report takes stock of how far Germany has come, and what still needs to be done. Emphasizing the importance of transparency and freedom of speech has helped reunite the nation – but other divides have also emerged.

At European Hansemuseum in Lübeck, a special exhibition — built entirely out of Lego bricks! — depicts the history of the Hanseatic League. “Hanseatic League: Brick-Rich” will also be traveling to Emden, Braunschweig, and the Netherlands.

Today we're going to show you how to prepare Brandenburg stewed cucumbers! The "Schmorgurke" is a coarser and knobbier cucumber that is found in Germany, but you can use any cucumber you have at your disposal. Traditionally, this dish is made with bacon and milk, but you can also use almond milk and vegan margarine and leave out the bacon. Guten appetit!
