Personal desires and political reality are forcing all involved to make decisions now. Willi and Elke have found a solution for themselves, but the adults are having a harder time finding common ground.

In the end, only love remains, as can be seen in this part. Particularly during a final song performed by the band, a few tears are shed as the reality of the situation sets in.

Just before reaching the final stop in the West, Rudolf opens up about the past he has tried to forget. Sabine, the gymnast, makes a brave decision, and Sascha remains on the train without his friends.

The impending farewells now become an unchangeable reality at Ludwigsstadt train station, the last stop before the border.

Sascha confronts Rudolf, but he gets no certainty regarding his suspicions. Just before crossing the border into the east, one more person decides to leave the train.

With Edith having abandoned the train, there is a short wait just in front of the East German border, giving Anna and Sascha time to reconsider.

In this final part, there is one touching reunion and a moment of deep sadness. We also learn a little bit about what became of each of the protagonists.
