It’s Judith Lorenz’s first day at the Hanover Health Department. Her new colleagues approach her openly and with interest. But Mr. Lehmann makes an inappropriate comment to her at the very first chance he gets.

Ms. Bredow confronts Mr. Lehmann about his inappropriate remarks toward the new colleague, but he accuses her of professional negligence. Ms. Lorenz takes Ms. Bredow’s side.

Ms. Bredow comes to have dinner at the house of Ms. Lorenz, who is still in the process of moving into and decorating her new apartment. Away from the office, the two colleagues begin confiding in each other.

Ms. Bredow visits Ms. Lorenz, who’s been out sick for four days. She seems disturbed, and does not want to go back to the office. Then she revealed what happened with Mr. Lehmann in the filing room...

Mrs. Bredow is worried because she cannot reach Ms. Lorenz by phone and drives to her place to see if everything’s all right. When she arrives, Ms. Lorenz has just returned from the police, to whom she reported Mr. Lehmann.

The police confront Mr. Lehmann with Mrs. Lorenz's accusation. Mr. Lehmann reacts arrogantly, but privately, he’s worried.

Ms. Gonzor and Mr. Lehmann discuss the complaint that Ms. Lorenz has filed against him, and Ms. Gonzor tells Mr. Lehmann that he will need to stay home while the investigation is taking place. However, he does not want to accept this…

After things become unpleasant for him at home, Mr. Lehmann makes the bad decision of going to Ms. Lorenz's apartment to confront her. His lawyer is concerned that this makes him look quite bad in court, especially now that Ms. Schmidt, his main ally at work, has passed away and can't defend his character.

As the trial approaches, Judith spends more and more time with Andrea, even visiting the zoo with her family. During this excursion, Judith mentions that she once had a daughter.

Testimonies from Judith Lorenz and Volker Lehmann regarding their encounter in the storage room are heard in court, and the verdict is revealed.

Andrea begins to question Judith's new memories of the incident, and asks her husband about it. When she goes to a bar, she finds Judith's behavior quite worrying.

Judith is quite dismissive of Andrea's husband's attempt to express sympathy, and then makes an impossible request of Andrea. Meanwhile, Mr. Lehmann loses control in prison.

Andrea learns that Judith is in the hospital and goes to visit her. Andrea can't imagine that Judith has been poisoned as she claims, and it does seem that a lot of bad things keep happening to her.

Ms. Lorenz asks to visit Mr. Lehmann in prison, where he gives her a letter to read, as his therapist recommended. In the letter, he begs her to tell the truth and clear his name so that his daughter won't suffer so much.

A year and a half after Judith's resignation and the end of their friendship, Andrea receives an invitation to Judith's birthday party. Perplexed by a strange coincidence she notices, she decides to attend and see what she can find out.

After doing a little digging, Andrea is convinced that Judith has told her nothing but lies throughout their whole friendship. And so she decides it's time to confront her.

Andrea Bredow visits Mr. Lehmann in prison and says that she believes him. Now, things are turning serious for Judith Lorenz, who is facing a retrial.

After spending years in prison, Mr. Lehmann is up for retrial. Andrea's husband is acting as his lawyer now – will there be a new outcome?

Mr. Lehmann is finally a free man after three years in prison and is out enjoying the fresh air on his racing bike. Is this the happy ending we've been waiting for?
