“Zarathustra’s Roundelay” is a poem that appears twice in Nietzsche’s Also sprach Zarathustra (Thus Spoke Zarathustra). Here, singer Caroline Tudyka transforms the lines of the poem into lyrics, which she then imbues with profound sorrow.

This song by Caroline Tudyka in French and German is based on a poem by German-Jewish poet Else Lasker-Schüler, one of the greatest poets in German history. Lasker-Schüler fled from the Nazis and died in Jerusalem in January 1945. She always longed to return to the Berlin of her memories, before so much of it was bombed.
