In the middle ages, living off the land was very difficult and farmers had to get by with much lower crop yields. Baking was popular, and pig farming was generally successful since the animals could graze on acorns in nearby forests.

The AOK Health Magazine takes an active interest in showing the children of Hesse how important and how good a healthy diet can be. Unhealthy eating can wind up costing a society billions every year, so here Germany sets an excellent example for making an active effort in preventative health measures.
