However, the new construction is about more than just attracting tourists: The changes are also delighting residents of the city, who are eager to sign up for tours.

The Moria refugee camp, on the Greek island of Lesbos, is characterized by crowded tents, mountains of garbage, and inhumane and unsanitary conditions. In summer 2020, Rhaja Horst traveled there to devote her time and energy to helping the refugees. The 19-year-old student from Reckenroth, a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn district, spent eight weeks at Moria giving German lessons. She encourages other who are interested in helping out to join an NGO and go.
