Berlin is the first German federal state to declare International Women's Day a holiday. On March 8th, all business and schools are closed to honor women everywhere.

Lisa, a physiotherapist, starts her new job in an institution for people with learning disabilities. She meets Mark, who is actually just being kept there temporarily and who initially reacts to her in a dismissive, almost aggressive way.

Lisa initiates contact with Mark, but he proves to be his usual prickly self and then ends up taking things a little too far.

Having requested a second opinion on his condition, Mark has received the results of the assessment in the mail. When he is finally alone, he opens the envelope with trembling fingers...

Lisa is reprimanded by her superior because of the promise she made to Mark.

Lisa asks a friend from her university days for help, but he is not enthusiastic about her idea to organize an expedition up to the Gran Paradiso.

Martin chooses three boys to go on the mountaineering expedition, and Rocky, at least, is immediately enthusiastic about the idea. However, Martin withholds one important detail from them at first...

Martin's boys get into a fight, which threatens to derail the whole expedition to climb Gran Paradiso. Will Lisa manage to calm everyone down?

Martin, Lisa and the boys are now on the bus headed for the mountains. Mark makes himself unpopular again, and then it turns out that they have a stowaway on board...

The bus finally reaches the hut which is to be their base camp. Mark reluctantly allows himself to be helped off the bus by one of the convicts, and Lisa discovers that Rosi is anything but well-equipped for the trek up the mountain.

Having been upset by Wolf again, Mark is on the verge of turning back. But Lisa talks to him, and her words seem to have an effect.

The summit is within reach, but there are still another two nights to go. The group will also have to negotiate a crevasse...

As they climb the Gran Paradiso, tempers fray, the risk increases, and one very frightening incident occurs...

The group has reached the hut where they are to spend the night. But the innkeeper has a surprise in store for his new guests, and not everyone is amused.
