Heiko "Schotty" Schotte is the "Tatortreiniger," a crime scene cleaner in the greater Hamburg area. Arriving at a job, he quickly finds himself attracted to a receptionist and wants to ask her out — but unfortunately he’s three days into a year-long “women-fast.”

Schotty is accompanied by Professor Lütting to the grisly scene of the crime — but his horror gives way to curiosity when he’s introduced to the institute’s secret project, E.M.M.A. 206.

Scotty's philosophical monologue continues, and he begins questioning the meaning and usefulness of emotions, all while E.M.M.A. listens patiently. Then the receptionist returns to the lab, attracting his attention…

Schotty is still waiting to start work and watching the TV in the lobby to pass the time. Meanwhile, strange things seem to be going on all around him, with many familiar faces.
