From Herberstein Castle, we continue into the mountains of the Fischbach Alps and Semmering with its historic railway line. Finally, we meet Markus Göksu, who dives into mysterious mountain caves.

After the adrenaline rush at the waterfall, the journey continues to the Salzkammergut. Between gorges and mountains lies Lake Grundlsee, where people still travel in old traditional boats that are reminiscent of Venetian gondolas.

This next part of the series "The Alps from Above" first takes us to Salzburg, the city of Mozart, which besides Baroque residences and gardens also boasts one of the largest European fortress complexes.

The next stage of our journey through the Alps takes us to the Chiemgau region in the far south of Bavaria. Here lies the beautiful Lake Königssee, which cuts through the mountain landscape like a fjord. In this video, we also learn how the Watzmann—a mountain surrounded by many legends—got its name.

We continue to follow the miner Andreas from Berchtesgaden and see how his work underground is founded on tradition and solidarity. Furthermore, we see where the extracted brine is further processed and what role nature and forest play in the Alps.
