The bus finally reaches the hut which is to be their base camp. Mark reluctantly allows himself to be helped off the bus by one of the convicts, and Lisa discovers that Rosi is anything but well-equipped for the trek up the mountain.

Having been upset by Wolf again, Mark is on the verge of turning back. But Lisa talks to him, and her words seem to have an effect.

The summit is within reach, but there are still another two nights to go. The group will also have to negotiate a crevasse...

As they climb the Gran Paradiso, tempers fray, the risk increases, and one very frightening incident occurs...

The group has reached the hut where they are to spend the night. But the innkeeper has a surprise in store for his new guests, and not everyone is amused.

It's nighttime in the cabin, and people appear to be in high spirits until Wolf starts dancing with Lisa...

Mark and Wolf reveal to each other how they got into their respective situations, Rosi is in love, and Rocky surprises everyone with his engineering skills.

The group gets caught in a terrible storm and emotions run high as some start to give up all hope of finding the bivouac... Luckily, Mark knows what he's doing.

Having been caught out in the storm and in desperate need of shelter, the two hikers from earlier suddenly burst into the bivouac. They prove themselves to be as disrespectful as ever, and Wolf decides he isn't going to stand for it...

The next morning, it's clear that Wolf has run away. Martin is adamant about following the rules and intends to break off the expedition. Lisa tries to convince him not to do that so close to the finish.

When the group learns who is responsible for Wolf's escape and, therefore, for the fact that the expedition has to be called off, everything gets out of control.

Will Mark and his companions continue their ascent? They get an unpleasant surprise that could jeopardize everything...

The situation seems hopeless. How are they all supposed to cross the crevasse? Then, completely out of the blue, Harpo makes a run for it... The final stretch to the summit is dramatic and extremely moving!
