In the first part of this moving drama set in the mountains, we meet the twenty-three-year-old paraplegic Mark and experience views of the destination of his dreams: Gran Paradiso.

Lisa, a physiotherapist, starts her new job in an institution for people with learning disabilities. She meets Mark, who is actually just being kept there temporarily and who initially reacts to her in a dismissive, almost aggressive way.

Lisa initiates contact with Mark, but he proves to be his usual prickly self and then ends up taking things a little too far.

Having requested a second opinion on his condition, Mark has received the results of the assessment in the mail. When he is finally alone, he opens the envelope with trembling fingers...
