During a carriage ride, Jacques and Inge discuss what’s changed in the city over the past decades. They seem to be getting along quite well. But then Jacques gets an alert on his phone — who’s been calling him, and what is he hiding?

Inge and Jacques go for a walk and have a chat. What was it like to socialize in the era before cell phones? Inge expresses a desire to go back in time. And Jacques has a surprise for her!

Using several examples, Sabine and Jan explain the weak verb "erklären" ("to explain") in the following verb tenses: present, simple past, present perfect, and conditional. The present perfect form of the verb is conjugated with the auxiliary verb "haben" ("to have") and in German often used similarly to the simple past, or preterite tense.
