We travel from Untersberg to Berchtesgaden. In doing so, we learn something about the history of the region, salt mining, and the training required to become a miner.

We continue to follow the miner Andreas from Berchtesgaden and see how his work underground is founded on tradition and solidarity. Furthermore, we see where the extracted brine is further processed and what role nature and forest play in the Alps.

Franz Obermeier works as a forest ranger in the Alps. His job is to tend the forest and preserve it for future generations. His horses, his dog Silva, and a wealth of knowledge about nature and animals help him in this endeavor.
