During this opening segment from the crime series "Die Toten von Marnow," dialogue is kept to a minimum. Nevertheless, it does an excellent job of setting the scene: a murder has occurred.

For Chief Inspector Frank Elling, it's a relatively normal morning. But a strange case awaits him, involving a break-in, dead man, an old acquaintance, and a missing list.

Elling arrives at the crime scene. The criminal police investigators exchange initial observations, clues, and theories about how the crime unfolded.

At the gruesome crime scene, the investigators find clues regarding the murder's motive, including something very disturbing about the victim.

Lona tries to learn more about the victim and how the body was discovered, and Elling learns that his wife couldn't have met with her intern that day, as according to a colleague, he was sick.

Susanne Elling comes home unsuspectingly and is puzzled by the guests in her living room. She must have forgotten something...
In the nursing home, Mr. Dreyer is wheeled out onto the terrace. After his caregiver has gone back inside, the murderer strikes again.

During the garden party, Elling's daughter asks her father if something has changed in her parents' relationship. A little later, Elling is called to a new crime scene and, together with Lona, he makes initial assumptions about the perpetrator and motive.

Jasper meets Lona at the lake where she has her camper van parked. He has information about Beck, which they discuss in the camper, but she seems to have other things in mind...

As Lona and Jasper become more intimate, Elling has to face the reality that his mother is showing signs of dementia.

Elling and Susanne have a brief conversation by the pool, marked by mutual caution.

Elling is having major financial problems, and Simon Jäger makes it clear to Peters that Elling, Lona, and Jaspers need to be kept away from Marnow at all costs. At the end of this clip, there is a preview of what's to come in the next episodes.

In the first part of the season "Posthum" ("Posthumously"), we get a brief recap of what has happened so far.
