This song by Caroline Tudyka in French and German is based on a poem by German-Jewish poet Else Lasker-Schüler, one of the greatest poets in German history. Lasker-Schüler fled from the Nazis and died in Jerusalem in January 1945. She always longed to return to the Berlin of her memories, before so much of it was bombed.

Since then, the original German text has been adapted into 320 languages and dialects worldwide.
